Dr. Syed S. Haque is Professor and Chair, Department of Health Informatics, and Director of Graduate Programs in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Newark, New Jersey, USA. In 1989 he initiated, developed and implemented Certificate, Master's, and PhD programs in Biomedical Informatics at UMDNJ-School of Health Related Professions. Since then, under his guidance, the Department of Health Informatics has maintained its leadership position in the field of Biomedical Informatics. In relation to his cross-cultural and international experiences, Dr. Haque had the pleasure and honor of working as Chairman of the Department of Community Health Sciences, at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, King Saud University, and as Associate Director of Medical Education, College of Medicine, King Saud University (1982-1985). Dr. Haque has been frequently invited to deliver keynote addresses, conference presentations, seminars and workshops at both the national and international levels in various countries including USA, India, China, UAE, and Egypt.
